Ava’s interest in art began early in childhood with an appreciation of color and feelings displayed in paintings. She cut her first silhouette at the age of six. Later she studied art at Southwest Missouri University.

 

After moving to New Mexico over thirty years ago she found a treasure trove of visual experiences inspiring her art. The inspiration of nature’s beauty, the mix of cultures, and history has provided Ava with endless subjects to paint.

 

She paints primarily in oils and occasionally in water media.

 

Her work is held in private and permanent collections at the Red Rock Museum in Gallup and at the Cibola  General Hospital in Grants New Mexico.
