Anna Escamilla grew up in Southern California and discovered her love for art in middle school, continuing to take classes throughout high school. After graduating, she took drawing classes at community colleges but set aside her art for about 15 years while working full-time in the telecommunications industry and raising her family. After moving to New Mexico, Anna worked as a project manager and estimator with various cabling companies. Although she loved New Mexico, she returned to California for family reasons. Once her daughter went to college, Anna had more free time and earned an Associate of Arts degree in Liberal Arts.
After a long hiatus, Anna resumed taking art classes and, upon retiring in 2022, began painting full-time. She joined the PALS plein-air painting group in New Mexico and has participated in local shows, the New Mexico Cancer Center, Encantada, Placitas Artist Series, and the New Mexico Art League. Anna is excited about this new chapter in her life.
