Kelly O'Brien - Mixed Media

For the past 13 years, I have transformed discarded metal objects headed for the trash into meaningful works of art. I took an art welding class in Denver, Colorado, in 2013 that confirmed my love for metal and reusing objects.  I strive to create art using approximately 80-90% recycled and reclaimed materials.

I'm an artist who takes inert materials formed for one purpose and repurposes them to create art. Because each piece of metal carries its own story, before using it, I like to think about the journey it had before it came to me to help shape it into something beautiful.

I enjoy creating handcrafted glass and ceramic elements that are often incorporated into the work, adding color, texture, and depth that beautifully complement the metal's strength and character. The result is a distinctive collection of mixed-media artwork that showcases the beauty of transformation and the endless possibilities found in reclaimed materials.
