Teresa Prater - Oils, Charcoal & Prints
Teresa Prater lives in a renovated barn in Sandia Park, New Mexico, where she maintains a studio and teaches art classes. Over her artistic career she discovered that she loved to explore many different media while continuing to maintain an underlying narrative concept, whether it is figure or animal. The work shown in the gallery includes oils, charcoal drawings, and linoleum prints.
Teresa received her BFA from the University of Tennessee and her MA and MFA in painting and drawing from the University of New Mexico. Before moving back to New Mexico she taught for 29 years at Converse College in South Carolina. Her paintings, drawings and artist books have been shown in over thirty one-person exhibitions and over 100 exhibitions nationally and in Mexico and Switzerland. She has been a fellow at the artists' residencies Virginia Center for the Creative Arts, The Hambidge Center in Georgia, and Studio Camnitzer in Lucca, Italy.
