Mary Madsen
A native of Utah, I discovered Albuquerque when I had the opportunity to attend the University of New Mexico in 1944-45. I immediately fell in love with everything about the Southwest, and declared I would return and "live 'til I died" in Albuquerque. Happily, my dream came true shortly thereafter, when my husband was offered a job here in 1951.
Albuquerque has grown quite a bit since then, but its true beauty remains unchanged. Its sunrises, sunsets, the sometimes bright and sometimes soft glow of the old adobes, the cottonwoods, and the magic of the old churches; all of these remain favorite subjects for my watercolors, oils, and even the occasional pastel.
