 Judy Luttrell
Originally from Seattle, Judy moved to New Mexico in 1992. She balances the technical life as a
human resources administrator by devoting many evening hours to her mixed media
artwork. “This creative side feeds my soul. I credit these wonderful New
Mexico skies, crisp blue with the clearest of light, for moving my artwork into
a richer tapestry.”
Judy searches the globe for unique papers and inks to create the drama in her “sendable art.”
Each piece comes with its own sheer vellum envelope….perfect for an original
gift enclosure, a note to a beloved friend, or as a gift in itself to a
coworker. Clients are finding these “individual works of art” to display
perfectly in a sleek frame….either singularly or in a special grouping. The
designed are imprinted with various inks…. ….watercolor, pigment, or dyebased….directly
onto paper, clay, or fabric. Part of the process may include overlaying with an
embossing product and heating, which literally melds the ink and embossing agent
to create a textured surface. In keeping with the dramatic texturing, other
pieces may be added such as various stones, silver carvings, turquoise,
decorative threads, and other gifts from nature.
In addition to these, Judy also creates visions of color through her custom floorcloths and
tile work. The tiles are imprinted with the same inking and embossing process
as the sendable art, but have a durable overlay that protects the tiles from
normal cleaning.
