Pastels by Glenda Jensen
Artistic Technique, Method, and Description
I like to begin all my work, Paintings in Pastel, on Wallis sanded paper using an underpainting that could consist of either a value study, a complementary study or just a flat color base which will simply change the white of the paper. This makes the development of the final image much more responsive since I have to react to each and every mark and color that is applied.
The use of pastel, a dry medium, is very satisfying for me because I’m able to use the sticks to draw the subject and then enjoy the enormous range of colors and values to complete the piece.
